5-Star review for Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder from self-described “…mystery connoisseur.” #Mystery

Amazon reviewer Veronica K. Zemke had this to say about Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder: New Cover for Mocha Moonlight and MurderFBBanner(updated03-09-15)

“I am a mystery connoisseur. I have read everything written by Agatha Christie, Ellery Queen, James Patterson, Harlan Coban, Mary Higgins Clark, Carolyn Hart, Rita Mae Brown, Michael Connelly…point made. That being said, this murder mystery by newcomer MaryAnn Kempher was a pure delight.

Katherine is going through a divorce and doesn’t need the complications of a relationship. Scott has just called off his engagement to his long-time girlfriend; the last thing he’s looking for is another girlfriend. However, when they are paired up for a project in the last college class either one needs to take, the sparks fly. What follows are awkward moments, accusations, jealousy, a witnessed murder, and a lot of humor. While the subject-matter of the book (murder) is pretty heavy, I found it to be quite light and light-hearted reading. Even as I finished a chapter, I just had to read one more. And, there are a couple of twists that even I, as an experienced mystery reader, never saw coming.

I recommend “Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder” to any mystery buff, but also to mystery virgins, especially those who have found mysteries to be too heavy. This is the perfect book for getting one’s feet wet!”

Murder #Mystery–Forever Doomed–Think twice before taking that cruise.

Forever_Doomed_ebook_barnesnoble_BrighterIt was supposed to be the time of her life. She was young and beautiful, and single. She and a co-worker booked adjoining cabins and set sail for Europe. Four weeks of sun, fun, and (hopefully) lots of sex. Unfortunately for Pam Larsen, she met the wrong man at the wrong time and found herself on the wrong end of a very sharp knife.

Detective Jack Harney agrees to do an old Army buddy a favor. Curt Noble had some personal business to attend to, he didn’t say what. What he did say was he needed someone to temporarily take over his duties as head of security on the struggling cruise ship Forever. Jack hesitates, but he owes Curt his life so agrees. He’s told the worst mischief he can expect to encounter will be the occasional shoplifter, or drunk. Instead, one week into the cruise, a beautiful red head and a member of the crew are ruthlessly murdered. Are the two murders connected? It’s up to Jack to find out. He must find the killer before the ship returns to Tampa’s port, or worse, before another dead body is found.

“Do you know why it (the murder) wasn’t on any video?”

“Why?”

“Because this whole area is a blind spot. No cameras, no footage, no footage, no proof.”

“Forever Doomed has everything; it is by turns a murder mystery, thriller, love story with tones of humor, and is fast paced and the story never waivers.” Amazon review.

**Sale Alert** #Mystery & #Humor Make Sweet Mystery a must-read who-done-it #99cents

Facebook AFTER release of SMFor a limited time, Sweet Mystery–the third book in the Under the Moonlight series, will be on sale. All three books are mysteries, and though this is a series with a lot of the same characters, you do not need to read the first two to enjoy the third. However, I recommend you do read the first two books first—-only because then when you read Sweet Mystery you’ll be reading about old friends.

Descriptions and links to Amazon for all three books below. These books can also be purchased at Barnes and Noble.com for your Nook.

Mocha, Moonlight and Murder is the first book in the Under the Moonlight series and introduces all the characters you’ll read about again in my second and third books.

Instead of feeding her late-night appetite, a midnight food run nearly gets 28-year-old Katherine O’Brian killed. She’s the only person to see the man who brutally murdered a local woman, and the killer is hell-bent on making sure she doesn’t talk.

Scott Mitchell left a broken engagement behind when he moved to Reno, and the last thing he needs is more melodrama. But when he and Katherine are paired for a college project, that’s what he gets. It can be very distracting when someone is out to kill your lab partner. Together, they try to figure out what the police haven’t been able to—the identity of the murderer. Passion flares, but with Katherine’s life in danger, romance seems like more than a bad idea.

Scott and Katherine will face jealousy, misunderstandings, lust, and rivals, not to mention attempted murder—and all before their first real date.

Forever Doomed, my second book, takes place aboard a cruise ship where just one week into the cruise, two people are murdered. Head of Security, Jack Harney must find the killer/killers before the ship returns to Tampa’s port. A baked goods thief, a tempting suspect, and a ghost from his past will test his abilities.

Sweet Mystery, my newest release, once again stars Jack Harney, and his friend Curt Noble. They’ve opened a private investigator office and their first cases has Jack tracking down the killer of an ex-girlfriend and Curt trying to find a bird thief. A lot of the same characters from my first two books are in this one too.

Think Janet Evanovich meets Agatha Christie–#Mystery with a dash of #Humor.

Facebook AFTER release of SM

Hello! I write mystery with a dash of humor, and sometimes a little bit of romance. I have three books so far in the Under the Moonlight series, I’m working on a fourth.

My first is a romantic mystery. Mocha, Moonlight and Murder

My second book, Forever Doomed, takes place aboard a cruise ship where just one week into the cruise, two people are murdered. Head of Security, Jack Harney must find the killer/killers before the ship returns to Tampa’s port. A baked goods thief, a tempting suspect, and a ghost from his past will test his abilities.

My newest release, Sweet Mystery, stars Jack Harney and his friend, Curt Noble. They’ve opened a private investigator office and their first cases has Jack tracking down the killer of an ex-girlfriend and Curt trying to find a bird thief. A lot of the same characters from my first two books are in this one too.

They can all be read on their own, but I recommend you read them in order, starting with Mocha, Moonlight, and Murder. All three murder mysteries will keep you guessing until the very end.
